Usually based in the Red Room of the Rhodes Drama Department, this particular Sunday rehearsal found the Arts Collective troupe enjoying the sunny weather outdoors.

During this gathering, many a spontaneous artist joined the group to have an afternoon “jam” session, prompting a variety of musical genres with guitars, violins and spoken word. In an act quite representative of the group's nature, three of the performers had only joined that day by invitation of co-organiser Charles Mckenzie, two of whom were also interviewed alongside Charles.

The group spends the afternoon playing and strumming music to spoken word poems, either pre-arranged or improvised while listening to the music. Charles and the group discuss the ways in which the presence of others playing alongside each other aids the creative process. By stepping out of the familiar, they are exposed to alternative genres and approaches which enrich their collaboration.
